Online Medical Transcription & Editing Certificate (in partnership with Career Step)
Class Description
In as little as four months, you can start a career as a Medical Transcriptionist and Medical Transcription Editor. Medical transcriptionists type up written reports of the audio files that doctors record after interacting with patients. These written reports are then included in the patient’s medical record. Medical transcription editors are specialized medical transcriptionists who correct and edit written reports created by speech recognition software, which automatically translates the doctor’s dictation into text. Most medical transcriptionists and editors work from home and choose their own schedules, although there are a few who work on-site for hospitals or clinics.
Built on the AHDI-approved Medical Transcription curriculum, the program provides 640 hours of instruction and hands-on experience. After completion, you will receive graduate services support through Career Step and access to Job Placement Direct, a database of over 100 medical transcription employers.
