Certified Nursing Assistant Refresher

This refresher course will review proper cleaning and use of gloves, mask, slings, lifts and wheelchairs, the proper techniques for lifting and transporting the patient, how to take measurements and record; temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure. You will also review procedures involved in measuring diet, nutrition, fluids and feeding, how to promote patient independence, personal hygiene, AM and PM care, bed making, baths, measuring height, weight, ROM, the patient unit. You will also review medical terms and abbreviations encountered on a daily basis in the profession.
The course is designed for Certified Nurse's Aides who have completed an approved Certified Nurse's Aide course and whose registration has lapsed or an individual who completed an approved CNA class, but never took the exam and would like to brush up before taking the exam. A nurse's aides' registration does not have to be renewed if you worked as a nurse's aide for an 8-hour period of time within a recent 24-month period in a health care environment approved by the NYS Department of Public Health.

Pre-Requisite: For recertification, must have proof of registration as CNA with state of New York State Department of Public Health.
